(which is no where near as good as the original btw), I’m talking about life. There are plenty of reminders right now that just like that it could all be over!

“Live in the moment!”

“Live each day as if it were your last” (Jobs).

“Life is a journey, not a destination” (Emerson).

“The best preparation for the future is to live as if there were none” (Einstein).

“Don’t squander time, for that's the stuff life is made of” (Franklin).

“We only regret the chances we didn’t take” (Carroll).

“What day is it? It’s today. My favourite day” (Pooh & Piglet).

“You could get hit by a bus tomorrow.” (Which btw has actually happened to me – twice!)

Don’t live life on autopilot, dwell in the past, or wish for something that might make you happy in the future. Make the most of now! And if you need support to work out what that is, one of my coaching colleagues might be able to help - we focus on the whole person.

…never ceases to amaze me. I’ve been part of the same professional peer group (established as part of an International Coach Federation (ICF) initiative) for around 8 years – a long time! But it never gets stale. Membership has changed, and some of us, including me, have stepped out from time to time to take a break. At our core we have a formal agreement, or ways or working, which we amend and adapt as necessary.

Often, we bring client cases to discuss, but last night we stretched ourselves and experimented. We intentionally slowed down pace, providing space, and shared our thoughts on a common topic as they surfaced. A successful experiment and powerful technique. Thanks Alyson Keller (PCC, ICF), Rebekah Fraser, Professional Certified Coach (ICF), Sabine Hillebrandt, Nicky Benson, Helene Deschamps PCC 💚

I cannot emphasise enough how important it is to regularly connect with like-minded people in a safe space - ideally people you don’t work with. If there isn’t an established professional peer group you can join, create one!

I admit, my client was talking a lot, but she seemed to be on a roll, working through some things she probably had not said out loud before. And I wasn’t at all bored!

If you are talking a lot, you’re not coaching. If you’re telling rather than asking, you’re not coaching. Simple things to keep in mind for leaders and teams wanting to build a coaching culture. And there is nothing more powerful than a team coaching each other as peers.

If you or your team would like to have more coaching conversations, please get in touch.
